Introducing: WHAT YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT GEOENGINEERING BUT WERE AFRAID TO ASK

Standard

Earlier this week, the National Research Council’s Committee on Geoengineering Climate released a pair of studies: “Climate Intervention: Reflecting Sunlight to Cool Earth” and “Climate Intervention: Carbon Dioxide Removal and Reliable Sequestration.” As a result, the media have run a number of stories about geoengineering, among them: “The Risks of Climate Engineering,” by Clive Hamilton, “Climate Hacking Is Barking Mad,” by Raymond T. Pierrehumbert, and “Short-Term Fixes for Long-Term Climate Problems? Not So Fast, Experts Say,” by Joel Achenbach.

In case you’d like to check them out, I’ve included links to the reports and the articles, below. If you’d like something with more detail than the articles and less than the reports, however, check out my blog over the next few days. I’ll be posting a series of short essays about geoengineering.

Here are the links to the National Research Council’s reports:
